As we all know, learning is looking a lot different this school year. Many schools are taking place online and parents are having to structure their lives around kids learning from home. While this is certainly a challenge for many who are lacking in curriculum and teaching skills , it also provides a unique opportunity for young people to explore new learning environments and modalities. Holistic ArtVentures is excited to offer support in a variety of ways to make learning successful and inspiring.

Greetings friends and young songwriters! I hope this message finds you enjoying as much health and happiness as possible. It’s been a strange month or so for all of us and I know that each of us is experiencing it in a different way. I had quite a busy March and April of travels and touring planned, all of which was canceled. Although this was disappointing, I’ve actually found myself grateful for an excuse to settle down, move slower, re-evaluate my goals and be more introspective and personal with my creative process. That said, I am missing working with young people and I hope that there are some opportunities this summer for connecting in one form or another. At this point in time, I am still planning on leading Songwriting Camps with a cap of five participants for each in Bellingham, Vashon Island and Whidbey Island. There is also opportunities for meeting via zoom if social distancing restrictions do not allow us to meet in person. Below are the TENTATIVE dates and registration details. Stay tuned for updates as they are made available. Since my schedule is so incredibly OPEN these days, please reach out if you’d like to have a songwriting or voice coaching session via facetime or Zoom. While it’s not the same as being together in the same room, I think we are all grateful for as much connection with each other as we can make available.

Greetings! Hope this post finds you anticipating the beginnings of spring.. only a teeny bit more than a month away! What keeps you inspired and creative during the long months of winter? For me it’s allowing myself to enjoy coziness and rest, lots of warm comforting meals along with encouraging myself to get out the door and into the fresh air no matter how much I might initially resist. I find that exercise and self care during months that make me feel sluggish also ward off the sluggishness of the creative mind. This way, I can make the best use of the extra indoor time by practicing and writing.
Spring is just around the corner though and I’m not only looking forward to the longer and sunnier days but also lots of travels bringing singing and songwriting far and wide. Check out my schedule and feel free to register by clicking on the links on the side bar or emailing me at email@example.com.

Holy cow I can’t believe 2018 is over! Our first Winter Break Songwriting Camp was a blast and I’m so grateful to our families, young songwriters and patrons who provided funding for several partial scholarships. Young Songwriter Summer Camp scheduling is under way. I’ve listed locations and possible dates so if you see something that catches your eye let me know! I’m now also available to bring songwriting programs to Bellingham Public Schools via Allied Arts. Check out my profile and lesson plans descriptions HERE. As always I am also available as a private voice and songwriting coach to people of all ages. Check out the link at the top of the page to learn more.
This year I will also be focusing HEAVILY on my songwriting with elderly project. I am hoping to write seven more songs based on the narratives of people over the age of 80 in Bellingham and showcasing these songs at a concert in Bellingham on March 23. This will be the launching point for what I hope evolves into a larger scale project that will involve more songwriters and communities outside of Bellingham. My dream is to compile our songs into a recording complete with pictures and narratives of the people whose stories we are curating. Of course funding for musicians, recording, time and traveling expenses is the greatest challenge I am facing at this point and non-profit status seems like the most like course of action. In the meantime, you can help by becoming a patron of this project. This means you subscribe to my project via patreon and for a monthly fee as low as $5 a month you receive updates that include songs, pictures and more. CLICK HERE to learn more and thank you in advance! Without further adieu.. here are the dates of the Young Songwriter Summer Camps!

“I have to tell you that Audri’s music and writing really took off after getting such a solid and affirming start with you. She has wrote and recorded a whole album, with two songs one about the local whales and one about wild bison that she has been asked repeatedly to perform in the area for awareness events for Orca Network and Buffalo Field Campaign. We are so grateful to you for the confidence you gave her and the beautiful epxerience she had working with you” – Parent and host of homeschool songwriting workshop.
“My kids, who were initially both reluctant participants, absolutely LOVED the Songwriter Camp. I am so impressed with the creativity you inspired in them, how you showed them that they can take everyday events and turn them into songs, and how songwriting is an organic process. They also loved the silly fun elements like swimming and observing humans in their natural habitats. I hope you’ll offer the camp again next June!” – Methow Arts Alliance Director and Parent
“You did an incredible job bringing out her creativity. I was in awe of the song you composed together. I am making a CD to come out by October 1st, and I want to include her song.” – Recording Artist and Grandparent
“As the director of our arts education program I coordinate many camps each summer. Rarely have I seen a camp so engaging for the kids involved. Each day of camp I would see kids sitting alone or in groups working on writing their songs. Havilah was great with the kids and came prepared with all the equipment she needed to record camper’s songs. This camp was a hit and I’m excited about having Havilah back to teach again next summer.” – Director of Arts Education, Vashon Center for the Arts
